One Half of a Year

I am WAY late on posting this; it's taken me forever to get around to finishing it...but here goes:
My big boy's stats at 6 months:
Weight: 17 lb 14 oz {57th percentile}
Length: Just over 26 1/2 inches {between 50-60th percentile}
Melon Head Circumference: 45 cm {81st percentile}
Once again, you did great at your doctor's appointment, and handled your immunizations and flu vaccination like a pro! Mommy was a  little sad after this appointment however, because after worrying about your not-so-symmetrical head, the doctor agreed. Because of your sleeping on your back for so long, and too much time on your back {in your car seat or stroller}, your poor little head is a bit more flat on one side than the other. She said she wasn't worried and that your precious head is just on the cusp of normal, so we're just going to watch it for a few more months. If it weren't to even out a bit more, we would then discuss options to meet with a specialist to see if any helmet therapy would be needed. In short, this just means lots more tummy time and lots of sitting up and playing, which you have begun to LOVE anyway {and mommy and daddy will keep praying, too}!

On to some more exciting stuff...
*When you're in the mood for Mickey [Huggies], you wear a size 2 diaper, but when you're feelin' some Sesame Street [Pampers], you now wear a size 3!
*Just about everything you wear now is 6-9 months. You pretty much flew through all your 3-6 month clothes.
*You still take just 4 bottles {~7 oz each} a day, and you've now had some "real" FOOD! You were not at all a fan of the rice cereal, and weren't too keen on the baby oatmeal cereal either, so we went on to veggies and you LOVE them. Sweet potatoes rock!
First time eating in your high chair!
Naked-eating is where it's at!
*You FLEW on an airplane for the first time ever...and not just a little flight. We went across the country to visit our best friends, Susan and Baylor, then went on to Florida before flying home. You did SO well and loved it all.
*You started sleeping on your belly at night while we were in Washington, and you love it. You sleep like a ROCK- typically from 9:45-10 p.m. until 8:30-9 a.m., but there's been a few mornings that I have had to get you out of bed by 10 so we can get our day started. But, I sure ain't complainin'! One of my favorite moments of the day, hands down, is going into your room each morning to get you; you always pop your little head right up and smile. Melt me.
*You stand at all times. It's your favorite. If you're sitting, you'll push up to stand yourself up. You're also getting more and more sturdy and are sitting up on your own pretty well.
*You are always banging on something with your hands {tables, toys, your own belly or legs, etc...I think you'll be a drummer!} and you love to clap your hands and wave. I don't think you really "know" that that's what you're doing, but you do it all the time.
*You love to scream and squeal when you play! SO stinking loud that it scares many of us {Baylor and mommy included...}
*You really like playing with and figuring out all of your toys on your jumperoo. It's like you're trying to rip them off of there, or discover how they're all attached. You get really excited and hit them and just pound on all of them. You're way more interested in that, than actually jumping all that much. Engineer?
*We've started watching some cartoons in the morning, especially Dora. I swear you light up as soon as you hear them speaking Spanish and you are so intrigued. Must be Daddy's help that has given you a special ear for that. It is just precious.
*Speaking of Daddy, you adore him. You get so excited when he gets home and you hear his voice. Instant smile. I'm sure he loves it just as much as you do! You also love to hear his voice on the phone when he's away traveling. You reach out for the phone and smile big!
*You still spit like nobody's business. I thought you spit a lot before, but after spending some time practicing with Baylor, you do it EVEN more. We have little wars back and forth and you think it's hilarious.
*You are obsessed with your feet. A LOT this month. You grab hold of them during diaper changes {getting so much more difficult!}, bath time, and anytime you're playing in the floor.
*You are becoming a little, hammy flirt! Anytime someone says 'hi' to you out in public, you give them a big cheesy grin, and sometimes "pretend" to hide. That, or you just start jabbering and talking to them. I LOVE your smile and the way your eyes light up when you're excited to see people.
*You give the best hugs...you squeeze around my neck and I just can't get enough!
*You are so ticklish. You just CRACK up like crazy and laugh uncontrollably when mommy or daddy, or Uncle Jeff tickle you. Your feet, hands, and your belly are your tickle spots so far! You also laugh so hard when Lyla licks you. You are in love with her!
*Bath time is really SPLASH time, you kick like you're swimming and all the water ends up everywhere but your tub. It's so fun to watch you play, though.
*You like to keep it simple and just chill on the couch sometimes. It's like you think you're cool and big or something, and you seem to love it. I very much enjoy our mornings together hanging on the couch.

Baby boy Anderson, this has been the best half year of my life! You are at SUCH a fun age right now and your personality is blossoming. I try to write things down so I don't forget, but I sometimes feel like I'm forgetting so much! One thing I know for sure is that you are an amazing little blessing, and I can't wait to watch you grow and learn new things each and every day. I love you with all my heart and am looking forward to the next half year and the several years after that! God has big plans for you, sweet bubby!

  1. So sweet. Love reading about A. I love getting Landry up in the a.m. and morning time on the couch too, when they are still half asleep. :)
