I had an appointment with my doctor yesterday. After no progression the last few weeks, I thought for sure she'd tell me once more, "your cervix is still closed." BUT, she didn't!
Her first comment was that his head was SO low, then she proceeded to tell me I was at least 2 centimeters dilated, and 80% effaced! REJOICE! Not that this means anything; considering some women sit at 2 cm for a few weeks, while some women have a closed cervix until labor begins. But, still...to hear something was happening was really exciting.
She then asked me, "do you want me to go ahead and strip your membranes, or do you want to go into labor on your own?" I'm pretty sure I looked at her like she had four heads and quickly asked what she meant. She said it could naturally help induce labor and explained that the amniotic sac would be detached from my cervix. I said YES! She said it doesn't always work, and could cause some discomfort, but it helps prepare your body for labor. So, why not?...
NO baby yet, but we're getting ready. It could be anytime, or I could make it to my due date... hard to tell. I packed the rest of my essentials for the hospital and have been cleaning and re-cleaning since last night!
Could my cute husband be *nesting* too? I think so! He told me this morning he was going to shampoo our carpets, using my parents' Hoover SteamVac, AND he sure did.
Look how pretty! I love fresh carpet stripes more than anything. Excuse the random mess on the fireplace. ;)
And THIS just cracks me up. I was picking up around the kitchen this morning, when Roberto walked up to me and said, "HA! Tell me I'm not ready?!" He made this "Contractions Recording" Spreadsheet at work yesterday that really makes me laugh out loud. They suggested tracking contractions at our childbirth class, and I just said, "Neh, that's silly," but he is taking this pretty seriously! HAHA.
So anyway, the last two days we've been really productive. I've walked a lot, taken a few hot baths, done laundry, cleaned, and this morning I snuck out and mowed over half the yard before Roberto came and took the mower from me. :)
I just can't help it... I'm ready to meet Mr. Anderson Lee Astacio!
Enjoy your weekend.
